On Saturday at around 10 PM, Cumberland City Police officers responded to the 100 block of South George Street for an assault that occurred inside a local hotel.
Investigation into this matter revealed that Randal Waybright, age 34 had assaulted his wife in the hotel room by striking her repeatedly in the face. The victim ran out of the room screaming for help and was taken in by a husband and wife in a nearby room who rendered aid. Waybright was placed in custody and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.
Cumberland City Fire Department responded but the victim elected to go privately to the Western Maryland Regional Center for injuries to her nose. Waybright was taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond hearing and was held on a $2,500.00 dollar bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.
