Delegate Leroy Myers made a surprise announcement on WCBC’s “Dave Norman Show”: he will not be a candidate for the office in 2014. Myers, a Republican who pulled off one of the biggest political upsets in memory in 2002 when he defeated then Speaker of the House Casper Taylor, says he is looking into other areas to serve. He resides in Clear Spring in neighboring Washington County. Myers, who declined to offer any hints as to what his future plans are, said he felt it important to announce his intentions early to provide a fair opportunity for candidates who may pursue the seat.
