Officers were dispatched to the Family Dollar on Queen City Drive for a report of a shoplifting complaint.
Upon their arrival they contacted an employee who advised she observed a female place several items in her purse and leave the store without paying for them. The clerk confronted the subject in the parking lot while she was seated in her car. At this time she advised her that she knew she had stolen items and the subject then took out a pack of garbage bags. She handed this to the clerk and said that was what she had taken. At this time the clerk then took pictures of the driver, car and license plate.
The officer was able to locate and make contact with the suspect who was identified as 31 year old Jessica Lynn McCleary. McCleary responded to the station where she was interviewed. She admitted to only taking one bag of garbage bags.
Jessica was processed and charged on a Criminal Citation for Theft under $100.
