After agreeing to accept a new four year contract from the Allegany County Board of Education last week, School Superintendent David Cox provided a brief “state of the school system” address- and it was a relatively upbeat theme. Dr Cox, who has presided over the system for the past 8 years, said despite growing fiscal challenges- and the testing and curriculum challenges mandated by the state- the system, is continuing to thrive. He credits the board, the administration, teachers and students for a cooperative effort in maintaining a level of excellence. Despite these achievements- more challenges lie ahead…
