Former Maryland Congresswoman Helen Bentley has died at the age of 92 after a battle with brain cancer.
Bentley had been receiving hospice care for the past month.
A memorial service is being planned for October.
Three years ago, she was presented with the First Citizen Award from the Maryland State Senate. She also served as chair of the Federal Maritime Commission, and had a career as a reporter for the Baltimore Sun.
