Spurred by the revitalization of the school's basketball team, officials at Bishop Walsh School have begun discussions on the possibility of re-establishing the football program. An open forum meeting in the upper barn at the 1812 Brewer on Mason Road has been scheduled for Saturday at 5:30. It was six years ago that the school announced it would no longer field a football team because not enough students had expressed interest. Bishop Walsh, until the fall of 2013, had fielded a team since it opened its doors in 1966. Prior to that, LaSalle played football beginning in the 1920s. Pat O’Rourke, a Cumberland native who has a long association with the Bishop Walsh athletic teams, on WCBC’s “Dave Norman Show” acknowledged that that re-establishing a football program will present a number of challenges…
