Franchot calls economy “flat”

Maryland agencies need to do more to promote business. That’s according to Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot, who has been critical of the state’s economy since its Board of Revenue Estimates last year lowered by $676 million revenue projections for 2015 and 2016. Franchot said the state has not had to further lower its revenue expectations, which is good news. At the same time, the fact that Maryland’s revenue projections are steady means the economy isn’t growing as much as it should. Franchot thinks Maryland can grow revenue by focusing on the private sector and doing more to attract and grow business…
