Comptroller Franchot will convene a media briefing by professional staff on Thursday morning to discuss proposed regulations of Daily Fantasy Sports activities in the state. Under legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2012, Maryland law grants regulatory authority over fantasy sports to the Comptroller, whose objective is to ensure taxes are being properly collected, consumers are better protected, and participants are competing on a more even playing field.
