Hand grenade found in vacant Lonaconing house

A hand grenade found Wednesday inside a vacant Roosevelt Way dwelling was determined to be harmless, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office. The Cumberland Times News reports an employee of a cleaning company reportedly found the military ordinance inside the property owned by Stephanie Pavlicek. The property had not been inhabited for the last year, fire officials said. The fire marshal's office performed X-ray diagnostics of the hand grenade to determine that the device was inert. The fire marshal's office was notified of the discovery at about 3:30 p.m..
