Caporale seeking second term

There are five candidates seeking two seats on the Cumberland City Council this November- and while there was no primary, there are plenty of issues on the table. With Councilwoman Nicole Alt Myers opting not to seek another term, Dave Caporale is the lone incumbent in the race.  One of the more controversial issues facing the council has been the proposed Maryland Avenue Revitalization project- which involves the purchase and demolition of approximately 60 homes in the Rolling Mill area to make way for commercial development. There are about a dozen holdouts that are refusing to sell. Caporale tells WCBC News that while he is sympathetic to those who want to hold on to their homes, he believes the potential  economic development opportunities and jobs that could result are too good an opportunity for Cumberland to let slip away…
