The Maryland Association of Counties is holding its annual Summer Conference in Ocean City.
Allegany County Commissioners Jake Shade, Bill Valentine and Creade Brodie Jr attended a standing room only session on medical cannabis Thursday.
The State of Maryland is expected to issue 15 licenses for medical marijuana by late January. There are two known applicants for sites in Allegany County. Peak Harvest Health has been endorsed by the Cumberland Mayor and City Council. The other group is said to be interested in a site in Oldtown.
