Heavy rains caused instability in some local mountainsides overnight, causing debris to fall on to the road along Maryland Routes 51 and 135.
Now comes word that the State Highway Administration of the Maryland Department of Transportation is monitoring the hillside of Interstate 68 at Haystack Mountain for possible movement.
Charlie Gischlar tells WCBC News that a camera has been installed to watch the rocks in that section of roadway. Should there be significant movement of the rocks, which would indicate instability, crews would be summoned to take quick action.
