Allegany County law enforcement agencies are inviting the public to participate in National Night Out, a collaborative neighborhood watch effort of local watch groups. Cumberland and Allegany County are among the 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canada and the military that will participate in National Night Out from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, Allegany County Sheriff Craig Robertson the event is designed to encourage the general public to foster strong relationships with local police and that residents will be asked to turn on their porch lights.
