Numerous volunteer fire companies from Mineral and Allegany counties were dispatched to a reported fire in a structure in the first block of West Fairview Street late Wednesday morning. The Cumberland Times News reports Mineral County 911 emergency center alerted Piedmont, Keyser, Fountain and New Creek volunteer fire departments at about 10:20 a.m. Potomac Volunteer Fire Department at Westernport, and Frostburg and Barton volunteer fire units also responded to the scene following alert by the Allegany County 911 emergency center.
