Possible Candidate For Commissioner Would Avoid Legal Fight With School Board

July 25th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

The ongoing disputes between the Allegany County Commissioners and the Board of Education could have political ramifications next year.  Democrat Tom Striplin plans to run for county commissioner and his recent reader commentary in the Cumberland Times-News sparked an immediate written response from Commissioner Bill Valentine, who defeated Striplin for the final seat on the board by 47 votes in 2010.  Striplin tells WCBC News that his goal is for the two sides to avoid a costly legal fight and he readily admits he knows plenty about legal fights and the Board of Ed.
