Report Clears Myers Of Sexual Harassment Claims

August 4th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

The Herald Mail reports nearly a year after a county report investigating sexual harassment allegations against Washington County Commissioner LeRoy Myers was completed, it was released to the newspaper on Thursday. A copy of the report, with names redacted, was provided to Herald-Mail Media by Commissioner Wayne Keefer, along with a separate report looking into an unauthorized leak of information on multiple topics. The harassment investigation report confirms much of what has been publicly reported about a complaint by former Assistant County Administrator Sarah Lankford Sprecher, which she filed against Myers in March 2017. Sprecher claimed Myers took "predatory and offensive sexual and related actions" against her, starting during a county business trip to South Korea in October 2016. The report says 13 witnesses were interviewed, all but one of whom were connected to Washington County government. It concluded that although "the evidence confirms" that Myers gave Sprecher "a hug and kiss on the cheek on Oct. 8, 2016 and placed his hand on her right leg later that same night," the evidence "fails to support a prima facie case of unlawful sex harassment."
