Strong Slots Revenue Means Funds Available For Local Nonprofits & Municipalities

Another strong year for slots revenue at the Rocky Gap Casino Resort and will lead to almost a half a million dollars in funds available for local nonprofits and municipalities to apply for.  Allegany County Finance Director Jason Bennett provided an overview during Thursday’s meeting of the County Commissioners and said that once again a variety of community initiatives will benefit from the 3.75 percent of gross slots proceeds given to the county each year from video lottery terminals located at the casino- most notably area law enforcement, emergency medical services and the Allegany County Opportunity Scholarship. The rules have changed somewhat as a result of a bill passed during the 2017 General Assembly session as now the county is required to provide 20 percent of slots revenue to area nonprofits and municipalities for capital projects.
