The C&O Canal Towpath will remain open from Tuesday to Dec. 9 while workers replace sections of the Cohill Station Pedestrian Bridge near Hancock, according to a news release from the U.S. National Park Service. During the project, NPS workers will replace sections of the wood decking and surface coating the steel to defend against the elements, the release said. The bridge is located at mile-marker 131.03.

NPS said the structure is a wood and steel I-beam bridge. It is 5 feet wide and 65 feet long.

The bridge is used by hikers, bikers and kayakers to gain access to the Potomac River.

Access to the towpath will be available through the canal prism.
