Traffic Stop Leads to Weapons Charge

On Saturday, at 2:00 am, a Cumberland Police officer was monitoring traffic in the area of Mechanic Street and Harrison Street. While monitoring traffic, the officer observed a vehicle strike a curb and commit traffic violations.

The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and the operator was identified as Jacob Myers, age 23 of Oldfield, West Virginia. Myers was subsequently arrested for DUI and other traffic related charges. A probable cause search of the vehicle was also conducted and two handguns were recovered. Myers was charged with one count of loaded handgun in vehicle and two counts of handgun in vehicle.

Myers was provided his Initial Appearance in District Court and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center on a $3500 bond.
