Valentine Dismisses “Low Ball” Criticism

During a recent public meeting, the Allegany County Commissioners were accused of “low balling” the local allocation for the proposed new Allegany High School. Larry Jackson, a teacher at Allegany and a local businessman,  said when the commissioners set aside a little more than $9 million for the project a few years ago- it was obvious then that more money would be needed given standard escalations and other factors.  Commissioners President Bill Valentine dismisses those criticisms, saying the county worked with the school board to come up with a reasonable budget number to set aside for the project…
