West Virginia House Indefinitely Postpone Education Bill Vote

The West Virginia House of Delegates has voted to indefinitely postpone the vote on the Senate Education Bill. The motion to postpone the bill indefinitely passed with a vote of 53 to 45 with two people not voting.

Governor Jim Justice, when asked on Hoppy Kercheval's 'Talkline' program whether he would veto the Education bill said, "I would. We need to go back to a clean education bill."  Leaders of the of WVEA, AFT-WV, and WVSSPA announced a statewide teacher strike last night in West Virginia for today, February 19th, 2019. 

Hours after that announcement, the Omnibus Education Bill passed through the Senate, 18-16.
