WV Session Ends On Time

March 8th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

The West Virginia Legislative Session ended at midnight, after the House voted 96 to 3 to concur with Senate Amendments to the Fiscal 2021 Budget Bill. That means the lawmakers will not have to extend their session to finish up work like in years past. The budget includes nearly $20 million to eliminate the waitlist for the I/DD waiver program.

West Virginia Governor Jim Justice is happy with the way the 60 day legislative session turned out. Justice praised lawmakers for reducing the budget from last year and adopting a number of initiatives to help families. Justice says those programs and the economically sound budget will bring more jobs and opportunities to the Mountain State.
