Miller named to head CEDC

July 14th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

The Cumberland Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) has announced that Matthew B. Miller will lead the organization as its Executive Director commencing September 1, 2020.
Mr. Miller has been with the organization since its creation, and previously served as Economic Development Specialist where he was fully focused on, and attentive to, citizens thoughts and concerns while leading job creation efforts and working to improve the quality of life for City residents. Miller’s local expertise in business development, workforce development, business attraction, retention and expansion will serve him well in this new role.
His local non-profit work reflects his commitment to the community. Matt is involved in countless charitable events and organizations and is well-known in the community for his philanthropic devotion. As just one example, his creation and leadership of the annual Tri-State Wing-Off attracts people from all over the country, supporting tourism efforts and raising thousands of dollars for area non-profit organizations.
“Matt’s experience and dedication to Cumberland and its residents will serve him well in this new role” said CEDC Board Chairman Jonathan Hutcherson. “His passion for the community and his vast project management experience will be invaluable as we begin the Baltimore Street upgrades. He will lead the organization as he has his other endeavors, with a clear vision and a demonstrated ability to take action.”
The CEDC will be posting a job announcement in the near future to fill the vacant Economic Development Specialist position arising from Mr. Miller’s promotion.

ALL these matters are in a dismal state locally after years of his expertise being applied to them. Cumberland really knows no bottom.

Wow, fresh chum in the water. The ink is not dry on his contract. You go guys. I know nothing about the guy and am willing to give him a chance before I condemn him for being a do-nuffin.

Fresh chum? This chum is rancid and old as Miller has been at the CEDC prior to Kelly and has been at Kelly’s side at every failed project. This was a great time to redevelop the CEDC and hire someone with a new vision and someone who actually had a track record of completing projects. However, Kelly wanted to project his legacy, so they hired someone as irresponsible and failed as Kelly.
