Superintendent of Schools, Dr. David Cox, recently announced two staffing changes at the
Board of Education for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year. Katie Buskirk will assume the role of
Supervisor of English Language Arts and World Language, and Trina McGregor will join the Central
Office as the Assistant Supervisor of Accountability and Assessment. Buskirk will fill the vacancy left
by Sue Hughes, and McGregor will fill the vacancy left by Marsha Miller. Both plan to retire at the end
of the school year.
Katie Buskirk began her career in ACPS in 1992 as an English teacher at Flintstone
Elementary School and later transferred to Beall High School as an English teacher where she
remained until 2004. She has also held the position of Assistant Principal at both Westmar Middle
School and George’s Creek Elementary School. Katie is currently the Dean of Academics at Fort Hill
High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in English, her Master of Education degree
in Reading, and her Master of Education degree in Administration and Supervision, all from
Frostburg State University.
“I am excited to embark on this new academic challenge,” said Mrs. Buskirk. “I look forward to
working together with English and world language teachers to enhance their instructional practices as
well as the educational opportunities that we provide to our students.”
Trina McGregor joined the ACPS team in 1996 as a math teacher at Washington Middle
School, where she has spent her entire career. She is currently a Math School Improvement Specialist.
Trina earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary/Middle School Education and her Master
of Education degree in Administration and Supervision, also both from Frostburg State University.
When asked about her new role, McGregor said, “It’s an honor and privilege to be chosen for
this position. I appreciate the opportunity and look forward to serving our County well in my new
role.”
