Allegany Co. Commissioners To Hear Budget Requests

This afternoon, the Allegany County Commissioners will conduct the first of two public sessions to hear budget requests from departments and agencies that are county funded. Those making presentations today include Cooperative Extension; Upper Potomac River Commission; Library System; Orphans Court; Circuit Court; Fire and EMS; Social Services; Child Abuse and Neglect; Scenic Railroad; and Allegany College of Maryland.  County Finance Director Jason Bennett has already notified the county commissioners that with some potential fiscal unknowns coming from the state, as well the impacts resulting from the Luke Mill’s closure, it is going to be a tight budget year with everyone being asked to hold the line…

    Maybe part of the problem is people moving into the area you don’t pay taxes but use all of the services
