Another correctional officer assaulted at NBCI

September 2nd, 2020 by WCBC Radio

A correctional officer of the North Branch Correctional Institution was injured and taken to the hospital after being assaulted Tuesday by inmates, according to the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. The officer reportedly suffered injuries that were not life-threatening when he was allegedly assaulted by two inmates in an unspecified area of the maximum-security prison located on U.S. Route 220 at Cresaptown. He was taken to UPMC Western Maryland for treatment.

The incident is being investigated by DPSCS detectives and NBCI officials, as is an assault on Saturday at the state prison that sent two employees to UPMC Western Maryland.

As long as Larry Hogan is in charge things will never change. The proper tools were promised when he took office, yet never given. They had a Warden who was political and didn’t want to screw that career up. Inmate discipline is light because they are catered too. It is prison, but these inmates get everything. When they assault staff, they give them more recreation. It’s time to bring the death penalty back to Maryland. An inmate has no consequences for assaulting staff at NBCI. Most of them will only leave when they die.
