Beitzel Bill on Garrett County Alcoholic Beverages Has Hearing

February 21st, 2021 by WCBC Radio

Delegate Wendell R. Beitzel (R – District 1A) had a hearing on Friday, February 19 for HB 632, the “Garrett County – Alcoholic Beverages Act of 2021.”

The bill seeks to eliminate the current one-time issuing fee for club and organization beer, wine, and liquor licenses and new art establishment licenses in Garrett County. Currently, there is a one-time fee required for new Class C (club and organization) alcohol licenses, and it has been recommended by the Garrett County Liquor Board that this fee be removed. This bill would repeal those fees. HB 632 would also allow a Class C license holder to purchase liquor, in addition to beer and wine, from a wholesaler.

Delegate Beitzel submitted this bill by request of the Garrett County Liquor Board’s request. Delegate Beitzel encouraged a favorable report.
