Board of Education Special Meeting Scheduled for Friday as Issues Continue

December 20th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

If the past two weeks are any indication, it may be fair to characterize the transition taking place on the Allegany County Board of Education as less than ideal. In November, voters re-elected Wayne Foote and elected  Robert Farrell, David Bohn and Debra Frank to serve on the board beginning in January. In recent weeks a number of “communication” issues have surfaced according to Farrell and Bohn ranging from notice from the board about the start time for meetings;  and whether or not they should be permitted to participate  in executive sessions. A special board meeting has been scheduled for Friday afternoon- and while there is speculation as to the subject matter- no details have been divulged other than an agenda noting that it deals with a “resolution”. Farrell and Bohn, on WCBC’s “Dave Norman Show” expressed concern that it may be a last minute attempt by the current board to make significant changes prior to leaving office. Farrell said this is not the proper way for the board to conduct business…

Bohn said it’s clear to him that members of the current board, with the exception of Foote, are not happy with the upcoming transfer to a new board…

Deb Frank, the top vote getter in the board election, was asked if she had similar concerns when it comes to not being allowed for certain segments of the executive sessions. She says that while she would like to have access to as much board business information as possible as she prepares to take office in two weeks, she can understand the policy…

Friday’s special meeting is scheduled for 4PM at the Central Office. Foote’s attorney George “Mac” McKinley confirmed to WCBC News that he plans to attend that session- giving further credence to the speculation that the meeting may focus on a recent letter of censure against Foote.

The 3 amigos that were recently elected have their agenda… fire Cox and put a local “good ole boy” superintendent back in the saddle to do their bidding. Furthermore, it’s interesting that some of the former board members who have been accused of helping with their campaign and have denied that allegation are the same ones who call into the station or text from behind the scenes. Make no mistake, this is all about gaining control of the board and returning back to the good ole boy system whiich Cox basically eradicated, Sad day for education in Allegany County!
