AS THE STOMACH TURNS, SO DO THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES! This is beyond disturbing!

There is ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY and ZERO INCENTIVE for people to better themselves, because there are no jobs.

When the industry left, so did a lot of good, hard working people! Kelly Springfield, Schwabbs, Beiderlack, PPG, Bayliner, Celenies, which is now 2 prisons and 1 county jail (don’t know if I spelled the companies right, sorry), but you get the point. I have worked 32 out of the 45 years that I have lived in this town, and let me tell you, it has been an absolute struggle. Made too much money to get help, but couldn’t make enough to sustain ourselves. Went to the market with a calculator, knowing I had only $50.00 to spend to feed a family of four for a week, when someone who was getting assistance was clogging up the check-out line of Save-A-Lot with 3 overflowing baskets full of food sporting a brand new tattoo (plastic still covering it). I am pretty sure that DSS doesn’t cover that!

I am not denying that I have received assistance. We got a medical card for our children only, and I am forever grateful. However, when we were able to get back on our feet, I made sure I called DSS and told them we were no longer need of assistance. We never considered it as an ENTITLEMENT.

We were raised in a generation of hard times. It was passed down from OUR parents that, if you wanted or needed something, hard work was the FIRST STEP to obtaining it! That is not the way it is today. Instead, they are selling drugs to our kids, robbing banks and convenient stores etc. SAD!

      > You are absolutely right!! These criminals coming from down state have figured out how far a welfare check can go here. They have no intention of getting jobs!! The liberal left would rather sacrifice 4.4 million of our tax dollars into more public housing, instead of creating jobs. What’s the incentive for a person to better themselves, when the government offers it for free!! Fact of the matter is, it’s NOT free!!! We, the working tax payer, is funding it!! What’s the incentive for a law abiding citizen to stay here? I have lived in this town for 45 years, and I have never felt more unsafe in Cumberland than I do now. It’s time for me and my family to move on folks!! It will only get worse when the bricks of the Cumberland mall are torn up and the road is put in, again, on the taxpayer’s dime!

Welcome to mini-Baltimore folks! All are welcome, all are welcome! I hope you enjoy the free accommodations, while you are visiting “Little Johnny” at our local prisons!

The drug dealers are able to sell their drugs for about twice the price that they get in Baltimore. Also, many have lost their drug corner while serving time here. It’s easier to just stay here after their paroleand make more money.

I agree, the penalty should be much harsher to send a message to others not to come here. The States Attorney’s Office has ALWAYS played
“Lets Make A Deal” to get the conviction. (they have to keep their batting average up!!)

Gee, and it NEVER dawns on the local MORONS that if the LOCAL HOMEGROWN white trash wouldn’t buy the damn drugs, no one would bring drugs here!! Drugs go where there’s a DEMAND for them. Look at your own local children and quit blaming “outsiders”, you idiots!
