CEDC Merger on County Agenda Today

Two weeks after voting to delay action on the long discussed merger of the Allegany County Economic Development Department and the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation- the item is back on the county commissioners agenda today. The motion to table any action at the last meeting was made by Commissioners President Jake Shade who pointed to the economic and fiscal uncertainty created by the COVID-19 pandemic. While officials with the city of Cumberland, Allegany County and the CEDC board have all signed off on the merger- final details of the new arrangement had not yet been finalized.     It’s our greatest dream come true!
    Now our area will get twice as many projects started and left uncompleted. And all from one office.

    Complain when they delay it, complain when they do it, and will complain if they don’t do it. It’s the Allegany County way!

    Spending millions to upgrade the downtown mall will no doubt turn around this local economy!

    I might only get behind this merger is they clean house at the CEDC. Kelley and Miller have not successfully completed one project. They have tore up parts of the city, have plans to destroy the heart of the community, and their only plans continue to destroy what we already have. Paul and Matt have not shown that they are worth merging with and will only spread their path of destruction throughout the county.
