CEDC Now Officially Merged With Allegany Co. Economic Development Dept.

It’s now official. On Wednesday afternoon in a brief public session the board of directors of the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation signed off on a memorandum of understanding approving a merger with Allegany County’s economic development department. Last week the county commissioners approved the MOU and the Cumberland City Council followed suit on Tuesday night. Like the votes taken by both the city and the county on the merger- the CEDC vote was not unanimous with  board member John Balch voicing opposition. While he said he supports the concept, Balch, who joined the session via conference call, expressed concern with the proposed new make- up of the board which will now include two county commissioners…

    What should be done is cooperate West Bedford and Mineral County in states that actually have a chance at Landing Blue Collar jobs Maryland will continue to fight Blue Collar jobs and only support White Collar jobs

    I got an idea, let’s put the CECD in charge of the entire county since they have done a great job for the city. The county budget looks better to the city and the CECD I’m sure. Doesn’t Paul Kelly live in West Virginia anyway? I’m a county tax payer.
