The Cumberland Mayor and City Council has approved utilizing the City’s Revolving Loan Fund for a COVID-19 small business relief effort. The fund, which currently totals $106,000, is typically used to provide businesses with start-up and expansion assistance. Given the significant negative impact the Coronavirus has had on the small business community- the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation requested the city shift those funds to be used for relief immediately. Economic Development Specialist for the CEDC Matt Miller said he would anticipate a long list of applicants given the dire straights some businesses find themselves in….
