The session was attended by water department management as well as union representatives. Since that introductory session, the council members have been asked if it is a concept the city is seriously considering. While the notion has been downplayed publicly, some council members are at least exploring the idea further. Councilman Rock Cioni said he has been in contact with the officials from a Maryland municipality that has privatized with American Water…

Wow, paying the bills for Utilities Inc (Maryland) is beyond what should be acceptable. Ask anyone here in Bel Air how they feel about paying some of the highest bills for water in the country if you need an earful.

Well, here we go again. Privatization of another utility. Garbage land fill was dumped from County run. The prices sky rocketed. Same with our Water, Sewage, Etc. Our tax dollars will take a hit and drive up the costs. We can’t live without water. And to think what they will charge to get rid of our waste. The Company, as seen in these kind of moves to get our money. Only a matter of time, 60 minutes, or 20/20 have what these Companies will do. And yes, these Elected could careless. Letting Companies rip us off! Then they can pass the blame! Not to be the scape goats. Then looking not at fault, all the while, remember, they did this! By turning over to a Company.

When a problem does occur who will respond to make repairs?
Will city or county employees do the work? Will they earn their regular pay rate?
Will the new company supply their own highly trained staff to do the work at minimum wage and without any benefits?
