City Council Holds Live-Stream Business Meeting Tuesday

In response to the Coronavirus outbreak and following directives from the governor’s office, the Cumberland Mayor and City Council conducted its regular business meeting Tuesday evening at City Hall- but the session was closed to the public. The council meeting was streamed live on the city’s Facebook page. Mayor Ray Morriss began the session with an update on COVID-19. He emphasized that although the latest numbers as of last night showed no confirmed cases in Cumberland or Allegany County-  every citizen needs to continue to exercise caution and adhere to the health and safety guidelines that have been outlined by the state…

    The meetings should be streamed on the city’s webpage, not on Facebook. Citizens should not be forced to join a private data harvesting service to keep up with city government activities.

    Now that we have a case, will they take this virus seriously? The Center City Parking Garage should be set up as a field hospital. This was done in my hometown in Ohio. What are these officials waiting for? They need to be proactive.
