City moving forward with plans to replace Water Main On Decatur Street

The Cumberland Mayor and City Council has approved additional engineering services for the proposed replacement of the 24 inch water main in the Decatur Street area. The water line has been an issue for years with numerous breaks routinely causing extensive damage to properties in that neighborhood. City Administrator Jeff Rhodes says the engineering analysis will determine the estimated cost of replacing the line….

    Why is it suddenly necessary to have an additional engineering analysis be done? Each time there has been a break it’s a matter of digging and repairing. The crews have had plenty of practice. Why add more expense to an already expensive undertaking?
