Commissioners Approves Expansion of Medical Marijuana Business

During the regular business meeting last week, the Allegany County Board of Commissioners approved the expansion of an established medical marijuana business in Cumberland. The county officials  voted unanimously to permit Manticorp,  a subsidiary of the medical cannabis manufacturer Grow West MD, to lease an additional 30,000 square feet of space at the former Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. complex at the Riverside Industrial Park.  County administrator Brandon Butler said that although the company has only been operation in Allegany County a short time,  the company already has over 90 people employed at the facility,  adding that this new expansion will  create an additional 50 to 70 more full-time jobs.  Commission President Jake Shade…

    Jobs are great for Cumberland! BUT it would be nice to see some non drug related jobs come to Cumberland. Drug abuse is running rampant and I just wonder how many of the medical marijuana are just jumping on the bandwagon as a means to obtain the drug through the loophole for medical reasons. As our President has said so many times, “SO SAD”.
