Country Club Mall SEARS to Close February

November 7th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

No official announcement has been made, but various media outlets are now reporting that the Sears store at the County Club Mall in LaVale will close by mid-February.  Company officials did not release an official list of the locations that will close- but employees at the local Sears have been told about the planned closing.  Liquidation sales will begin in December, and the store will be permanently closed within 60 days. The local Sears manager told WCBC News he could not comment while a corporate spokesperson said that they are not disclosing the store list or number of stores remaining. Sears would be the second major “anchor store” to leave the mall in a little more than a year  following the Bon Ton closure in August of 2018. Allegany County Commissioner David Caporale says losing Sears will be a definite blow to the local economy….

More individuals will be without jobs. More families will be hurt.
Can we expect the outpouring of concern and aid offered to the Verso employees when they lost their jobs?
I’m guessing no. They will just get in line at the unemployment office and try to start over.
