January 8th, 2021 by WCBC Radio

News pertaining to the release of the COVID-19 vaccine in Allegany County has been slow to be released, but that changed Thursday when County Commissioner Jake Shade announced some of the details. Shade, following a recent meeting with County Health Officer Janelle Mayer, said that 581 doses of the vaccine will have been administered by the end of this week. Next week, there are 750 appointments available, 594 of which are already filled. Following these initial rounds, Shade said the vaccines will begin to be made available to the public — with the elderly population first in line….

He said 5 of the county’s 8 nursing homes have received doses of the vaccine- and soon all of them will be covered…

Additional information will be made available by the County Health Department.
