County Votes on Merger, Establishes Allegany Development Corporation

Two weeks after voting to delay action on the long discussed merger of the Allegany County Economic Development Department and the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation- the County Commissioners approved a revised memorandum of understanding Thursday- voting unanimously to accept the terms of the slightly altered deal.  While officials with the city of Cumberland, Allegany County and the CEDC board all signed off on the merger in January- there were some sticking points that needed to be resolved and those were negotiated during the past two weeks.  The revised proposal will see a cost savings for both the city and the county.     It was stated previously that the new office would be on neutral ground and not attached to one or the other govt. offices.
    Allegany Development Corporation sets up it’s first project and fails to deliver even right out of the gate.
    Shape of things to come.

    Only 100,000 worth of savings? Doesn’t sound like much was merged or compromised in regards to staffing. Yet another CEDC project fail. Can’t wait to count the ADC’s fails and destruction projects.

    Their next step will be to hire some third-rate consultants to tell them what to think and do. This generally means thinking unrealistically and incurring millions more in debt. Hope and borrowing are the foundations of local governance.
