Former Allegany County Superintendent of Schools Dr. David Cox announced this week that he would retire from that position at the end of June.
Cox said it was a personal family decision, but added that dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic was also a factor. He said he would assist the Sullivan County School Board in every way possible.
Cox left Allegany County Public Schools in July of 2019 after more than ten years as superintendent.
The local position has been filled on an interim basis by Jeff Blank.
