Cumberland man arrested after standoff

On March 13th at  6:00p.m. deputies from the Allegany County Sheriff's Office responded to the 13000blk of Pershing Street, Bowling Green(Cumberland), MD for a subject out of control in the home. Responding deputies were advised that Travis Thompson, 23 had been threatening family members in the home. Upon arrival deputies were able to locate Thompson upstairs in the home. Thompson immediately became hostile and began throwing items at the deputies before barricading himself in his room. 

 

Thompson advised that he had armed himself, and then began threatening the lives of the deputies on the scene prompting the area around the residence to be secured by law enforcement.  After approximately two hours, negotiators were able to get Thomspson to exit the room and surrender. He was taken into custody without further incident. 

 

Thompson was transported to the Allegany County Detention Center where he was served with an outstanding arrest warrant. Thompson was additionally charged with as a result of his actions during the barricade. 

 

Thompson is currently being held on a temporary commitment pending representation by his lawyer.

Assault 2nd Degree

Reckless Endangerment 

Disorderly Conduct

Failure to Obey a Lawful Order

 

Arrest Warrant

Driving without insurance.
