Cumberland Police Make Narcotics Arrests

Wednesday, officers with the Cumberland Police Department with assistance from the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office and the Cumberland Police Emergency Response Team (CERT) executed two Search and Seizure Warrants in the 200blk of Spring Street. The warrants were as a result of a one month investigation into the sales and possession of illegal narcotics. As a result of the Search warrants quantities of suspected cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, and marijuana were located.  Thirty three year old Eric Jason Burley and twenty three year old Branden Scott Clark were subsequently placed under arrest.

Burley was charged with 3 counts of Possession of CDS not marijuana, one count possession with intent to distribute not marijuana, one count conspiracy to possession with intent to distribute not marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Clark was charged with 2 counts possession not marijuana, possession with intent to distribute not marijuana, one count conspiracy to possession with intent to distribute not marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia and controlled paraphernalia. Both Clark and Burley were transported to the Allegany County Detention Center to await an initial appearance at District Court.

 This investigation was a coordinated effort between The Cumberland Police Department, Allegany County Sheriff’s Office and the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force under the Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network (MCIN). The Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention (GOCCP) provides grant funding and strategic support to MCIN member sites to identify, disrupt, and dismantle criminal organizations through inter-agency collaboration and data sharing to make Maryland safer.

    Burley was arrested in December for narcotic drug offenses and is out on a $250.00 cash bond. That’s nothing for a drug dealer. It will be interesting to see what his bond is for this charge. Probably “OR” since he’s a nice kid!
