Cumberland Street Bridge replacement design unveiled

City officials received an update Tuesday on design plans for a replacement for the Cumberland Street bridge. A virtual presentation on the project was  given by city engineer Robert Smith with the event livestreamed on Zoom and shown on the city’s Facebook page.  The Cumberland Street bridge, which spans CSX Transportation rail lines, has been closed since November 2017 after the aging structure failed a safety inspection. In November 2019, the city and CSX agreed to terms for the removal and replacement of the bridge. Smith said the hope is that construction can begin in the spring of 2022…

      I think it’s the 10th grade Building Trades class at the Career Center doing the work.
