As a result of the COVID-19 restrictions on crowd size and large gatherings, it was announced earlier this month that there will be no New Year’s Eve celebration in downtown Cumberland tonight. For more than a decade the city has been ringing in the new year with a ball drop and fireworks at midnight, but with COVID cases spiking locally in the past few months those plans changed.
