It is a shame/scam that the county is paying to have the Fairgrounds Facility updated to fix the needs of one organization and then has their hands tied by the same organization as to what type of other events we can host at the Fairgrounds. Basically we are paying taxpayers money to better a private for profit event. This was a Valentine & Buehl mess, thanks Bill.

    The usual non-thinkers I see.

1-It brings tourist dollars into the area.

2-Its something for the area to be proud of that is not related to scandal. The only other thing that this area is recognized for nationaly is the Abu Ghraib prison mess. Not exactly our proudest moment.

    > Well said. Thank you

DelFest is the signature event for our struggling area. It has been wildly successful beyond what most would have predicted. Whatever we can do locally to keep it here and make it better should be done. However, I do think the agreement with the festival administrators regarding restrictions on other fairground events is a little weird. Bottom line is that DelFest had our not-so-sharp local cronies over a barrel. It was probably something like “agree to our terms or we’ll have the event somewhere else”. And actually, I can’t believe DelFest is keeping out anything of great impact from performing in Allegany County.

Anybody that things DelFest is a negative needs to have their head examined. And btw, they support all events at fairgrounds. Why was the Wing-Off just 3 weeks after? Thank you Del and family!
