The problem was not with the Allegany County Board of Elections, but poor execution downstate with a handful of polling places, and an overall policy of not releasing any results in the state until all of the polling places have closed. Maryland has over 6 million residents. This state is so behind the times that other states local boards release their results without waiting what the state head says. Our courts is also out of date that in other states their are regional appeals courts but in Maryland it is all in one place and I am referring to where an appeals court at the regional level is the last step before the one in Annapolis. This could be fixed with where the state board of election no longer should be permitted to hold the rest of the state hostage in regards in releasing election results. The appeals court would require a constitutional amendment in establishing a regional court appeals system based on current Circuit court district lines and would abolish the special court of appeals.

Law made back when the state had a smaller population of under 3 million is why the county couldn’t announce its results when the polls closed. That needs to change.
