March 1st is the new goal to see construction get underway on the Baltimore Street access project. It was announced last month that delays in the design process was the reason that plans to break ground in October had to be put on hold. The project will include the replacement of underground utility lines and adding one-way traffic and limited parking on the downtown mall. During meetings this week, Cumberland Economic Development Corporation executive director Paul Kelly said that given not much work could have been accomplished during the winter months, the construction delay is relatively minor- with a late summer of 2022 opening still projected. The price tag has ballooned to an estimated $9.6 million- but Mayor Ray Morriss notes that is always subject to change…

If I remember correctly the cost estimate was $9.2 million and now it has risen to $9.6 million. By March it will have rise to over $10 million.
