Ed Root gets school board appointment

In a brief statement issued Wednesday just after 4PM, the governor's office announced that former state and local board of education member Ed Root has been selected to fill the vacancy on board. The statement is as follows:The appointee for the Allegany County School Board is Edward L. Root, Ed.D. Dr. Root has over 50 years of experience in the educational field.  He was previously elected to this Board of Education and served from 2011 to 2016 as a Member, Vice President, and President. He also was elected and served two terms on the Maryland State Board of Education from 1999 to 2007. Dr. Root is currently an adjunct professor at Frostburg University, and previously served as the University’s Dean of the School of Education.
