Edwards supports Hogan’s school reopening decision

September 1st, 2020 by WCBC Radio

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan caught many off guard when he gave all systems in the state his approval to have students attend classes in person.

District 1 State Senator George Edwards is among those who agree with the decision…

Why would Hogan allow the local Boards to spend so much money and time implementing online learning programs just to pull the plug at the last minute? This is not only risking our children’s health. Now it’s throwing away tax dollars. Shame on you for caving in.

With more and more young people testing positive opening schools is certainly asking for trouble.
Edwards is a fool to agree with Hogan the fool.
One more instance of another local elected official not looking out for constituents.

Really? Phase 3 called for schools reopening only after a vaccine was approved. Hogan is showing his true republican colors and Trumpian ways! I supported his actions, Hogan that is, up until this screw ball decision! Here comes the second wave of the virus on the backs of our children and grandchildren! Very unwise decision.

This is a reckless, dangerous and, inevitably a catastrophic decision. If we follow Hogan’s dangerous direction we will be unleashing a daily super spread of the deadly Covid 19 virus among our children, parents, grandparents—every part of our communities across the entire state. Our poorly ventilated school buildings, the inability to maintain social distancing in the most congregate of settings by design, the inability to provide enforcement of wearing masks among students, the failure of Hogan to provide daily contact tracing WILL provide all of the elements for this highly transmissible, efficient, and virulent disease to spread among every community, population group, and household in our state. Having witnessed first hand the outcome of death from COVID I assure you that George Edwards and Larry Hogan will need to secure many more ventilators for our hospitals. COVID is now the number 3 killer among our population. Edwards and Hogan are plunging COVID into the number 2 cause of death among our people. The irreversible consequences of this deadly decision will be catastrophic.

      > WOW such bull crap. Fact: 6% of covid deaths were from covid. The other 94% were from underlying conditions. Facts matter, this scamdemic doesn’t.

Hogan has been consistent all along in allowing local jurisdictions to make their own decisions. The state isn’t forcing any school system to return to in-person instruction – they’re just saying that it is now allowed.

Just as many counties kept shutdown regulations that exceeded those of the state, so will many school systems continue to go virtual-only.

Kids are more likely to drown in a swimming pool than COVID. Reopen the schools. Liberals love to look to Europe except when they don’t

      Just plain stupid.

“Welchy” you view COVID as a political issue instead of the serious public health issue it is. COVID affects every age group and we do not yet understand the effects it will have on asymptomatic people as they get older. I can tell you from experience of my own family that you are never the same after getting COVID. My son is a 23 year old US Marine who has never smoked and was in superior health. He stayed at his duty station with his wife and baby son on base. In July he suddenly began coughing with a fever. He was hospitalized at the hospital on base. He was placed on a ventilator and we were told that he may not survive. On August 25, thanks to caring and talented Marine physicians and nurses, he survived…barely. He struggles to breathe, cannot smell or taste ANYTHING. His 3 year old baby boy tested positive for COVID and although he was asymptomatic there was a 5 year old in his on base day care center who was not so fortunate. That poor child was buried a few days after my son was hospitalized. My daughter in law was sick due to Covid while my son was hospitalized. Despite being sick at home, and “recovered” she is out of breath all the time. I have had many sleepless nights worried about my son, his family and that dear fellow Marine who lost his baby due to COVID. This is nothing to make a mockery of. I am so disappointed in Hogan who I previously held in high regard. As the result of this terrible course he is endangering our community with I will not support anyone, any Delegate, Commissioner or School Board member who supports Hogan from here on out. We cannot endanger our kids, parents, grandparents, teachers and staff. My daughter and son in law here will not be sending their 3 children to Ft. Hill, Washington Middle and Bel Air Elementary if they follow Hogan, Edwards and misguided people like “Welchy”.

      > As sorrowful as your family story is it will be lost on the likes of Welchy and Dan, both of whom who consider this highly infectious virus to be a fabrication of Liberal Democrats.
Only time will tell what the long term effects will be on your family. Best of luck to all.
