State election officials are expecting record turnout in November, with more than half voting by mail. Though every registered voter can expect a form in the mail to request an absentee ballot, election officials are asking voters not to wait and instead request one directly.
"I'm going to tell you now that we will probably have lines, so it's very important that you go online now, fill out your application, send it to our office," Anne Arundel County Elections Director Joe Torre told WBAL-TV 11. "Do not wait for the state to mail you an application. That will be too late. Do it now."
They also asked voters to consider dropping off the ballot at a drop box rather than mailing it. On Wednesday, the Maryland State Board of Elections announced that at least 270 ballot drop boxes will be deployed statewide.
The board also allowed local boards of elections to begin counting mail-in ballots on Oct. 1, though no vote tallies will be released until polls close on Election Day.
Ballot applications will be mailed to voters starting next Monday. Ballots will go out to voters in October.

I’m guessing Allegany County will be excluded from that also.
